Android 11 hits the market, specifically the the Google Pixel series. It offers some interesting new features that will make it easier to handle media, manage notifications, and help keep you safe with new app permission options.
Android 11, however, did not have an easy start. Its first trial was postponed on June 3 but was eventually postponed due to a series of riots related to the death of George Floyd. The presentation was supposed to take the form of an online show anyway – because of the COVID-19 pandemic, there was no Google I/O 2020 conference.

One of the new features that Android 11 users will see first is a new notification area designed only for instant messaging. With it, all messages (whether SMS, Messenger or WhatsApp messages) will be available in one place in the notification bar, which will speed up access to them.
Chatting will also be made easier by using so-called chat balloons. Android 11 will allow you to quickly reply to messages from multiple instant messengers, without having to leave other applications used at the moment.
According to Google, the native support for screen recording via Android 11 is also intended to help with communication. Therefore, you will no longer need to use external applications and any security issues. All Android 11 smartphones will be able to record the contents of their screen in the form of a video with audio from the app from the microphone or both at the same time.
In addition, Android 11 also includes a refreshed player support area in the notification bar, faster access to all smart-devices in the environment and wireless support for Android Auto – though here you still need to have a compatible car.
In Android 11, there’s even more control over your privacy and data. These include the ability to grant permissions for single use of the app, the automatic rebooting of non-regular apps, support for security patches provided by the Play Store, and additional security features available to business smartphone administrators.
Google Pixel smartphone users can reap even more benefits from Android 11. Additional options are available for them, including selecting text or quickly grouping apps on the home screen.
Android 11 Smartphone List
As usual, the new Android in the first place is available only on smartphones produced by Google itself. According to the developer blog, Android 11 can already be downloaded throughout the Pixel model series, in practice along with its larger counterparts, namely:
- Google Pixel 2 and 2 XL,
- Google Pixel 3 and 3 XL and 3a and 3a XL,
- Google Pixel 4 and 4 XL and 4a and 4a XL.
The arrival of Android 11 in smartphones of other brands is only a matter of time. Google is already writing about accessibility for selected models of OnePlus, Xiaomi, OPPO and realme. However, despite that Google’s efforts to get the process done as soon as possible can be very time-consuming, so it’s worth being patient.
By comparison, according to the latest statistics in Android Studio, released a year ago Android 10 works today only in 8.2% of all Android devices on the market.
