While 2019 was an exceptional year for Free Fire, Garena has big plans for the game in 2020 starting off with a brand-new map and a special one-day ranked event.
Starting on January 1st, survivors are encouraged to pack an extra canteen prior to exploring Free Fire’s newest desert-themed map, Sonoran. In addition to enduring the scorching heat, players will need to outlast each other as they find themselves surrounded by abandoned military buildings, tents, oases, cacti, and … a submarine? How did that get there?

A derelict submarine sitting in the middle of a desert isn’t the only surprise Free Fire has in store for survivors on New Year’s Day. For one day only, the game’s ranked mode will only allow players to rank up and won’t punish their unexpected poor performance by dropping their rank. Those who want to focus on improving their rank will want to take advantage of this special event as it’s only available on January 1st, 2020.
