Intel has officially responded to growing user complaints regarding performance issues with its Arc B570 and Arc B580 graphics cards when used in older PC systems. The issues, which include significant frame rate drops and stuttering, are particularly pronounced when the GPUs are paired with legacy processors such as the AMD Ryzen 5 2600 or Intel Core i5-9600K. In comparison, similar GPUs from AMD and Nvidia show less of a performance degradation on the same hardware.

These performance concerns made it difficult to recommend the Arc B570/B580 as a viable upgrade option for gamers with older setups.

“Thank you for your patience. We are aware of reports of reduced performance in some games when paired with older generation processors,” an Intel spokesperson said. “We have increased platform coverage to include more configurations in the testing process and are continuing to explore optimization opportunities.”

Performance bottlenecks with the Intel Arc B570 and B580 became apparent shortly after their official launch. Renowned tech YouTube channels like Hardware Canucks and Hardware Unboxed were among the first to highlight the GPU’s inconsistent behavior on aging CPUs.

Intel’s acknowledgment and promise of future optimizations suggest that improvements may be on the horizon for users running these cards on older platforms. Until then, gamers may want to wait or consider alternative options if they’re running pre-10th gen Intel or pre-Ryzen 3000 series processors.
