DxOMark the camera benchmarking site finally took the initiative to introduce a mobile selfie camera quality score. Some of the criteria include skin tone, colour accuracy, sharpness, contrast, lighting, and so on. As a result, from the results of DxOMark’s inaugural test, which was named the best selfie camera in 2018 is Google Pixel 3 and Samsung Galaxy Note 9. Both collect scores of 92 points.
Even so, the advantages of the Pixel 3 selfie camera and Galaxy Note 9 are on different spectrums. Broadly speaking, Pixel 3 is considered better for shooting photos, while the Galaxy Note 9 is superior in video recording. “Google places emphasis on texture and photo details, while Samsung prefers subtle results despite sacrificing details,” the DxOMark team said in a report. The devices that entered the top five (Top 5) smartphones with the best selfie cameras in a row are:

DxOMark’s assessment is based on objective and subjective testing at stable and controlled conditions. DxOMark even makes dummy humans with realistic skin colours to ensure consistency and score accuracy for each smartphone. For each smartphone tested, DxOMark analyzed 1,500 photos and two-hour videos. It should be noted, the results of testing selfie cameras have nothing to do with the quality of the cellphone’s back camera.
