The 5G connection that Oppo has done since a year ago sweet fruit. This Chinese vendor successfully applied the connection to the fifth generation cellular network for the first time.
The success was revealed directly by Brain Shen, VP of Oppo Global and President of the Business Department, on a Weibo account. In this post, He explained how it made the connection work.
Modified OPPO R15 Used to Complete 5G Signal Tests
The testing process was carried out at Oppo Research. They use the Oppo R15 as a terminal device with a 5G network. This terminal device was developed with customization of integrated 5G network components including the system board, RF, RFFE antenna.
As for when you can expect one of the well-received R15 Pro handsets with the 5G parts on-board, we suspect this won’t actually happen and will instead be a new device.
With this success, Oppo hopes to contribute to setting the 5G network standards as well as product development and network commercialization.
“Oppo will be the first brand to release this 5G commercial smartphone by 2019,” Brain said.
To note, this is the second time Oppo has made a success in developing 5G networks. Previously in May 2018, they announced their success in implementing the first 5G video call in the world by demonstrating using 3D Structured Light technology through customized Oppo R11s devices.
Oppo itself has started participating in the 5G standardization project since 2015. In addition to developing through the Oppo Research Institute based in Shenzhen, they also collaborated with Qualcomm in developing this 5G technology.
