Qualcomm Snapdragon 632, Snapdragon 439 and Snapdragon 429 SoCs Launched for Mid-Range Smartphones

Qualcomm has increased its portfolio of processors by adding three models: Snapdragon 632 to the low-cost and mid-range switch, Snapdragon 439 and 429 on the low-cost segment.

They will be commercially available from early Q3 of 2018, and the first mobile phones with this new hardware will be in the market at the end of the year or early 2019

Snapdragon 626 is an SoC manufactured in a 14 nm process, with 8 CPUs “Cortex – A 53” manufactured by Arm, “Adreno 506” manufactured by the company as its GPU core, and “Snapdragon X 9 LTE “was adopted. Meanwhile, the new Snapdragon 632 has the same manufacturing process as 14 nm, and the GPU core and modem have not changed from Snapdragon 626, but the CPU core part is equipped with eight own Kryo 250.

Snapdragon 632 is up to 40% higher performance than Snapdragon 626.

Snapdragon 439 and 429 are not so different from the comparison target. The remarkable difference is the manufacturing process, while the previous model was manufactured with a 14 nm process, while the new product is a 12 nm process with a slightly miniaturized process.

　It seems that the maximum operation clock of the CPU core has been raised by process miniaturization, and the new product has improved to 1.95 GHz for the previous model of 1.4 GHz. As a result, the efficiency per CPU performance and power consumption improved by 25% compared with the previous model.

　Also, in graphics performance, Snapdragon 439 did not change the generation of the GPU core, but said it achieved a performance improvement of 20% compared to the previous model. In addition, in Snapdragon 429, the graphics performance has improved by 50%, as the GPU core itself changed from the previous model “Adreno 308” to “Adreno 504”.

　It will not be SoC adopted for smartphones that gamers should select positively, but entry-class smartphones that adopted this new SoC are likely to expect some improvement in game performance.
