Rockstar Games has revealed a highly anticipated update for the PC version of Grand Theft Auto V, set to launch on March 4, 2024, bringing the game in line with its enhanced console counterparts from 2022. This free upgrade introduces a suite of technical improvements, including ray tracing, AMD FSR and Nvidia DLSS support, faster loading times, and advanced audio features, ensuring PC players can experience Los Santos with unprecedented visual fidelity and performance.
The update’s standout feature is ray-traced effects, which elevate the game’s realism through enhanced shading, global illumination, shadows, and reflections. These upgrades promise to transform iconic locations like Vinewood Hills and downtown Los Santos into even more immersive environments. To complement the graphical overhaul, Rockstar has integrated AMD FSR 1, FSR 3, and Nvidia DLSS 3, enabling smoother performance and sharper image quality across a range of hardware setups. Players using SSDs will also benefit from DirectStorage support, drastically reducing load times and streamlining transitions between the sprawling single-player campaign and GTA Online.

Rockstar has updated the game’s system requirements to reflect the new features, though they remain modest by today’s standards. The minimum specs now call for an Intel Core i7-4770 or AMD FX-9590 CPU paired with a GeForce GTX 1630 or Radeon RX 6400 GPU. For optimal performance, the studio recommends an Intel Core i5-9600K or AMD Ryzen 5 3600 processor alongside an RTX 3060 or Radeon RX 6600 XT graphics card. These adjustments ensure the update remains accessible while catering to high-end systems with support for 4K resolutions, ultrawide monitors, and uncapped frame rates.
PC gamers will also gain DualSense controller integration, allowing PlayStation 5 users to leverage adaptive triggers and haptic feedback for a more tactile driving and combat experience. Audio enhancements, including Dolby Atmos support, further deepen immersion with crisper dialogue, dynamic environmental sounds, and richer cinematic scoring.
