Samsung recently launched the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 with many upgrades in terms of specifications to design over its predecessor Samsung Galaxy Flip 5. The Galaxy Z Flip 6 certainly brings upgrades like the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC and 14 new Galaxy AI features to support productivity and creativity.
In addition, there is one new feature that has never been present in the previous Galaxy Z Flip line. Curious about what feature is meant? Check out the comparison of the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 below.
Flat design
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 does not come with a fully curved design, but all four sides are slightly curved. Unlike the Galaxy Z Flip 6, whose sides are made flat, making the design look more boxy and reminiscent of the Galaxy S24 series.
The Galaxy Z Flip 6 also comes with a dual rail hinge structure and reinforced folding edge so that it can better distribute the impact of external impacts. The creases on the main screen are also slightly reduced compared to the Galaxy Z Flip 5.
More RAM
The Galaxy Z Flip 5 comes with 8GB of RAM, a spec that has remained unchanged since the first-generation Galaxy Z Flip. Finally, after nearly five years, Samsung has increased the RAM capacity of the Galaxy Z Flip 6 to 12GB.
The internal memory capacity offered is still the same as the previous generation, which is 256GB and 512GB. The RAM and internal memory are combined with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy chipset, which brings improvements from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 in the previous generation.
Bigger battery
One of the things that Galaxy Z Flip users often complain about is the battery capacity which is not as big as traditional phones. The good news is, Samsung has significantly boosted the battery capacity of the Galaxy Z Flip 6.
The Galaxy Z Flip 6 now features a 4,000mAh battery with 25W fast charging. Compared to the 3,400mAh battery in the Galaxy Z Flip 5 with the same fast charging.
The larger battery makes the Galaxy Z Flip 6 look thicker, but its dimensions are still the same as the previous generation, which is 6.9 mm when opened. When closed, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 actually has a thinner body with a thickness of 14.9 mm compared to 15.1 mm on the Galaxy Z Flip 5.
Camera
Another major upgrade that the Galaxy Z Flip 6 brings is in terms of camera. After years of carrying a 12MP main camera, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 has finally moved up a class after being equipped with a 50MP camera.
The camera resolution matches the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ and its sibling the Galaxy Z Fold 6. Thanks to this improvement, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 finally leaves the 12MP camera that has been used since the first generation Galaxy Z Flip to the Flip 5.
Vapor chamber
Here’s a feature of the Galaxy Z Flip 6 that has never been seen in the previous Galaxy Z Flip line. For the first time, Samsung introduced a vapour chamber in the Galaxy Z Flip 6.
Samsung claims that the vapour chamber embedded in the Galaxy Z Flip 6 is 1.5 times larger than the one in the Galaxy S23 Ultra. In comparison, the vapour chamber of the Galaxy S24 Ultra is 1.9 times larger than the Galaxy S23 Ultra.
